It has in the meantime become something of a tradition: once a year, EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven organises the Safety Day. The idea is to raise employee awareness for the issue of occupational safety. This year the topics “Secure lashing” and “What to do if a fire breaks out?” were focused
Around half of all accidents in Wilhelmshaven are linked to the securing and discharging, also known as lashing, of containers. Industrial employees were able to practise at length the precautions that need to be taken to ensure containers are securely lashed and how to work safely and ergonomically.
The industrial employees were also given “Fire training”. They practiced the use of hand-held fire extinguishers with the help of a fire extinguisher simulator.
