Porsche vehicles on “New Silk Road” to China

    Porsche CFS

A new scheduled rail service between Bremerhaven and China started running in April. At EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven’s Container Freight Station (CFS), Porsche vehicles are stowed in containers and then loaded directly at the container terminal onto block trains. The trains link Europe with the city of Chongqing in South-West China along the “New Silk Road”.

The 11,000-kilometre journey takes the trains 20 days, which is up to three weeks faster than by ship. “We are planning two departures a week,” says CFS operations manager Nina Distler.

CFS customer Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is the responsible logistics provider. The company organises the shipping and transport of the vehicles to a hub that was recently opened by Hellmann China. There, the cars are prepared for certification by the Chinese government and then distributed to Chinese Porsche dealers.

China is one of the largest markets for Porsche in terms of volume.
