20in20 – Storage campaign for standard containers starts at EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven

On the occasion of EUROGATE’s 20th anniversary, EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven is launching a special campaign. Starting on 1 November 2019, shippers and shipowners will have the opportunity to store standard containers free of charge for 20 calendar days. This offer will be available for 14 months and will end on 31 December 2020. The campaign is limited to ISO standard containers (20-, 40- and 45-foot containers, as well as high-cube containers) for inbound and outbound cargo only. It does not apply to non-ISO containers, refrigerated containers, dangerous goods (IMDG code), empty containers, transhipment or break-bulk loads and is only valid for the EUROGATE terminal in Wilhelmshaven.

Given the current fluctuating, and at times uncertain, global economic conditions, the campaign offers shippers and shipowners significantly more flexibility. In the event of delayed ship arrivals or even cancellations, customers will no longer incur an additional financial penalty.

    Why Wilhelmshaven?

The JadeWeserPort is Germany’s transhipment hub of the future. Its nautical conditions make it ideal for all ship sizes, particularly the increasing number of Ultra Large Container Vessels (>20,000 TEUs). Its exposed location, short estuary channels, non-tidal nature and a guaranteed water depth of 18 metres at the quay put the JadeWeserPort on a par with Rotterdam and is without parallel elsewhere in Europe.

A direct connection to the A29 and a dedicated rail link with more than 120 weekly connections to more than 20 destinations make for ideal hinterland connections at the JadeWeserPort and EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven. With the electrification of the section of track between Wilhelmshaven and Oldenburg, which will be completed in 2022, there is nothing to stop further development of the port.

The steadily growing popularity of the logistics centre illustrates the positive development of the JadeWeserPort. This year alone, a well-known German car manufacturer commissioned the establishment of a modern distribution centre and the Chinese logistics group China Logistics announced its intention to set up a logistics hub in the near future. The share of local cargo is therefore expected to increase further.
