Management changes at EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven and North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven

Marc Dieterich (54) will take over as new Managing Director of EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven GmbH (CTB) on 1 April 2022. He comes from North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB), where he successfully held management positions for more than two decades, most recently seven years as Operations Manager. Dieterich succeeds Mikkel Andersen (44), who, in addition to his function as Managing Director of EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven GmbH (CTW), will also assume Group-wide responsibility for the topic of automation, also from 1 April.

The new Managing Director of NTB, also effective from 1 April 2022, will be Aad Scholten. The 55-year-old native Dutchman worked for several decades in various positions at the Port of Rotterdam with the cargo handling company ECT, part of Hutchison Ports Holding (HPH), and was most recently Managing Director of ECT Delta Container Terminal. He succeeds Christian Lankenau at NTB, who currently has a dual role as Managing Director of NTB and EUROGATE Group Human Resources Director.

Commenting on the personnel decisions, Michael Blach, Chairman of the EUROGATE Group Management Board, said: “We are very pleased that all of the above-named colleagues have expressed their readiness to assume their future roles and the responsibilities that go with them, as this will ensure that we continue to have a strong management team in Bremerhaven after 1 April 2022. Marc Dieterich currently heads up a motivated and highly efficient team at NTB with good productivity figures and a remarkably consistent high level of customer satisfaction. He will draw on his many years of experience to continue to drive the transformation process forward at CTB with energy and commitment in the coming years.

In this, Marc will be able to build on the successful work of Mikkel Andersen, who together with his team and in close cooperation with the works council has initiated and driven forward the transformation process at CTB over the past year and a half.

Aad Scholten brings a wealth of international experience and first-class expertise to Bremerhaven and will draw on both for the future benefit of NTB. We are delighted to welcome him there.”

Commenting on Mikkel Andersen’s new role, Michael Blach says: “Increasing the level of automation in our core business activity, container handling, is the key topic of the future for EUROGATE. Our decision in December 2021 to gradually convert the manual operation of EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven to an automated system creates complex correlations and interdependencies between the terminal and the automation project. The task now is to manage these in the best possible way, making it both necessary and expedient that a single person should hold the reins. We wish Mikkel Andersen every success and resolve for the tasks ahead and look forward to working with him closely.”
