Wilhelmshaven presents itself in the Dortmund Rhine-Ruhr region

In 2016, the Lower Saxony seaports toured a number of Germany’s most important regions. Under the motto “Hafen trifft Festland” (Port Meets Mainland), port representatives informed audiences in Nuremberg, Cologne, Bielefeld and Dresden about the capabilities of the ports. The next edition of event series will be held in Dortmund.

The event in Dortmund at the end of March is organised by EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven together with JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH in cooperation with Seaports of Niedersachsen and Container Terminal Dortmund. In his presentation, Oliver Bergk, EUROGATE General Manager Sales, will particularly highlight the positive perspectives of Germany’s only deep-water port for the Rhine-Ruhr region Dortmund. As well as rapid response times and short distances, coupled with excellent road and rail connections, he will draw attention above all to the available suprastructure for handling mega container ships. The port hopes the currently planned regular rail links to the German hinterland will further enhance its attractiveness. Michael Möhlmann, Sales Director at JadeWeserPort-Marketing will also present the enormous space capacities available at the Freight Village.

The organisers have invited shippers from the region to join them on the passenger ship “Santa Monika” at Dortmund Port for the event, which takes place on 23 March from 1 p.m. “We are expecting the major companies in the maritime industry as well as representatives from the shipping lines that currently - and may in future - have Wilhelmshaven as a port of call,” Bergk says.
