Roland Umschlag hosts “Port Meets Mainland”

50 years of Roland Umschlagsgesellschaft: reason enough for the “Port Meets Mainland” series of events to pay the intermodal rail terminal a visit. The high-performance rail terminal forms the heart of the cargo distribution centre (GVZ) Bremen and is regarded as the gateway between the German seaports and the hinterland. To mark the anniversary, the format organised by EUROGATE, Seaports of Niedersachsen, Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing Gesellschaft and TFG Transfracht paid its first ever visit to Bremen. More than 150 guests from the port and logistics sector came to the GVZ on 18 July.
Roland Umschlagsgesellschaft is Germany’s oldest private intermodal terminal. With its own transport department, it coordinates up to 42 block trains per week with a capacity of around 3,750 TEUs, mainly between the seaports of Wilhelmshaven, Hamburg and Bremerhaven. In Wilhelmshaven, Roland is the largest rail operator. Oliver Bergk (EUROGATE) presented EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) with its scheduled services, modern superstructure and extensive range of services. Ingo Meidinger (JadeWeserPort-Marketing Gesellschaft) informed about the status of the companies located in the neighbouring GVZ. Paul Jakob Grützner (TFG Transfracht) reported on TFG’s collaboration with Wilhelmshaven. For more than two years, CTW has been integrated into TFG’s AlbatrosExpress network with links to all 19 terminals.
