Rail connections from/to Wilhelmshaven substantially extended

    Wilhelmshaven

From the end of April/beginning of May, EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven is to be integrated into the schedules of a number of rail operators and forwarding companies. Transfracht AG, Necoss GmbH and Spedition Roland from Vienna are putting a whole series of new container shuttles on the rails. It is also possible to book rail shipments with Roland Umschlagsgesellschaft in Bremen.

Starting in May, TFG Transfracht, the market leader in containerised seaport hinterland traffic from the German seaports, will incorporate Wilhelmshaven into its full-coverage AlbatrosExpress network. The rail operator offers three weekly connections on 20 routes, linking Wilhelmshaven with the major economic centres in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Neutral Container Shuttle System GmbH (Necoss), a Bremen-based company specialising in hinterland traffic, is establishing a regular connection between the container terminals in Hamburg, Bremen and Wilhelmshaven. Wilhelmshaven will initially be served twice a week. The existing shuttle service between Hamburg and Bremen will remain unchanged. The aim is to link the train systems and assure the economical supply of all seaports.

A new container shuttle running between Wilhelmshaven and the EUROKOMBI rail terminal for combined transport at EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg is operated by Roland Umschlagsgesellschaft from Bremen. Export services operate twice weekly from Hamburg, on Thursdays and Saturdays, and import services from Wilhelmshaven on Mondays and Fridays. The container shuttle facilitates transfers from Wilhelmshaven to Hamburg and vice versa and makes connections possible to the entire German and European rail network. In Wilhelmshaven, containers with destination Hamburg can be transferred after offloading from the ship directly onto railway cars for onward transport. The shuttle can also be booked for transports between Wilhelmshaven and Bremen.

Austrian ROLAND Spedition from Vienna also offers a rail connection to EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven. The services are handled in cooperation with its partner ROLAND Umschlaggesellschaft in Bremen. Coordination of pre- and post-carriage to and from Wilhelmshaven is also organised via Roland Umschlagsgesellschaft’s system. From Bremen, connections serve the terminals in Nuremberg, (import only), Enns, Linz, Vienna and Graz. Trains run twice a week to/from Bremen.
