Ten millionth container for MSC Gate

On 31 January 2018, the ten millionth container in MSC Gate’s company history passed through the MSC Gate Bremerhaven container terminal. The 40-foot container was loaded onto the “MSC Madrid”. Since the startup of the EUROGATE joint venture, the terminal has continued to develop positively. Ferdinando Cibelli, Senior Vice President, MSC Line, Geneva, says: “The MSC Gate terminal plays an important role for us. We are pleased to note the strong development over the past ten years and are delighted to be able to celebrate this milestone in the company’s history together.”

    MSC Gate 10 Mio Container

MSC Gate started out on 1 October 2004 with two berths, four container gantries and 20 straddle carriers in Bremerhaven. Today, the company operates with 12 container gantries, 60 straddle carriers and four berths with more than 1,200 metres of quayside.

Marking the shipment of the ten millionth container, MSC Gate’s interim managing director Florian Brandt emphasised that above all the share of local cargo handled via Bremerhaven had steadily increased. MSC Gate intends to continue along this successful growth course in the future. This is demonstrated by the high level of investments, for example the procurement of 16 new straddle carriers by the end of May this year.
