ADAC helicopter crew trains in Wilhelmshaven

Twice a year, the ADAC air rescue service of the German automobile association and its crews – made up of pilots, on-board engineers, emergency doctors and paramedics – are required to practice rescuing people in different situations from the air. For a number of years, such exercises have been carried out on the gantry cranes of the EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW). In the middle of October, that time had come around again: “Christoph 26” hovered in and the ADAC helpers rescued “injured persons” from a gantry crane. The rescuers above all practised using winches, with which persons were abseiled to or picked up from various points on the crane.
